Susan Bodine represents a diverse clientele in the motion picture, television, and digital media industries. Her clients include major and specialty motion picture studios, cable television networks, media lenders, private equity financiers, as well as production and distribution companies, and individual directors, writers, and producers. Sue provides clients with counsel in all phases of development, finance, production, distribution, and rights administration regarding motion pictures, television programming and new media properties. She also handles domestic and international clients’ issues with rights acquisitions, production legal work and film and television sales and licensing. She advises a number of high-profile writers, directors and producers, working with them and their other representatives (agents, managers and business managers) on all aspects of their careers.
Sue has been an adjunct professor at Tisch School of the Arts at New York University, teaching the legal aspects of producing and has been an adjunct professor of Entertainment Law at UNH’s Pierce Law Center’s Summer Institute of Intellectual Property and a guest instructor at Columbia University Graduate Film Program.
She is a frequent speaker in the US and Latin America on motion picture, television, and new media production, and financing, distribution, and international co-production sponsored by a number of organizations. In the last five years, these have included the University of Michigan Film and Video Library, DOC NYC, University of Miami Graduate Film Program, Ventana Sur(sponsored by Cannes Marche du Film), Rio Content, and the Festival International of Guadalajara.
Sue has regularly attended the Cannes Film Festival, the Sundance Film Festival, the Berlinale, the Toronto International Film Festival, MIPCOM, the American Film Market, Rio Content and various other film and television events. She has been frequently included in listings of prominent entertainment attorneys, including by The Hollywood Reporter, Variety, the New York Super Lawyers, and Crains annual listings.
