Daniel Sheerin represents industry leaders in film, television, book publishing, digital media, music, live events, and emerging technologies. His practice centers on intellectual property transactions, often with sophisticated rights components and innovative elements.
Daniel counsels a diverse group of media and entertainment clients in corporate matters, including mergers and acquisitions, financings, joint ventures, executive employment agreements, and other operational matters.
In film and television, he drafts and negotiates agreements for rights acquisitions, licenses, talent (writers, directors, producers, showrunners), production services, and distribution, counseling clients on projects with Netflix, Disney, Amazon, Max, Hulu, ESPN, NBC/Universal, Paramount, and PBS, among others.
In the publishing world, Daniel provides outside counsel to the premier acquirer of literary intellectual property and advises on the establishment of the film and television production arm of a leading independent publishing house.
Prior to joining CDAS, Daniel practiced corporate law in the Century City office of a national firm, with a focus on mergers and acquisitions and technology and digital media matters. Daniel’s law school experience included an internship with Maker Studios (now Disney Digital) and the Cape and Islands District Attorney’s Office in Massachusetts. Before law school, Daniel was an accomplished drummer, playing on over one hundred studio recordings and touring the United States and Europe.
