m Law Daily’s recent article on the upcoming release of Unraveled, “Get Ready for the Marc Dreier Movie”, features links to interviews with Mr. Dreier and with the director/producer — CDAS partner Marc H. Simon — and background on Cowan DeBaets Abrahams & Sheppard LLP.
This feature documentary about disgraced attorney and philanthropist Marc Dreier, will be released by Go Digital on VOD and in theaters on April 13, 2012. Additionally, Showtime and CNBC have acquired TV rights to the film. Unraveled was produced by Mr. Simon, CDAS client Matthew Makar of Elementary Films, Steven Cantor of client Stick Figure Productions and Miranda Bailey of Ambush Entertainment.
Just days before Bernard Madoff captured headlines as the largest Ponzi schemer in U.S. history, Marc Dreier,a prominent Manhattan attorney, was arrested for orchestrating a massive fraud scheme that netted hundreds of millions of dollars from hedge funds. Brazen forgeries and impersonations branded the white-collar crime spree remarkable. Unraveled is set in the “purgatory” of house arrest – – an upper East Side penthouse — where the Court has ordered Dreier confined until his sentencing day. (Like Unraveled on Facebook here).
The trailer, generating buzz (click here), closes with this quote from Dreier: “It’s easy to say you would never cross the line, but the line is presented to very, very few people.”
