Laura Sher has strong and diverse experience in the television business, having worked on the network, studio, agency and production company side.  She is a highly effective dealmaker who provides strategic advice to her clients based on the breadth and depth of her industry background.  She started her career in the Intellectual Property Group of O’Melveny & Myers, handling both transactional and litigation matters.  For the past 15 years, she has counseled clients in all aspects of scripted and non-scripted television across all platforms.  Laura represents television production companies, independent studios as well as television networks.

Before joining CDAS, Laura was at Creative Artists Agency (CAA). As Head of TV Business Affairs in New York, she worked across scripted, alternative, digital and international client groups to provide strategic business affairs advice and support, including advising agency clients on industry trends and market standards with respect to deal parameters and structures.  She also reviewed and negotiated development, production, co-production, collaboration, overall and pod agreements for non-scripted and scripted content with networks, studios and key over the top platforms on behalf of production company clients.

Prior to CAA, Laura was Senior Vice President, Business and Legal Affairs, Business Development at AMC Networks where she headed business and legal affairs for IFCTV, SundanceTV and BBC America. In her role at AMC Networks, Laura supervised negotiation and execution of contracts for scripted and non-scripted original programming, including agreements for program acquisition and development, pilot/series production, co-production, production finance, talent agreements, and content licensing agreements.  She handled key initiatives, including formation of internal studio structure to produce scripted programming for the networks, issuance of participation and royalty statements, and negotiation of co-production agreements.  Laura also served in a business development role at AMC Networks, sourcing and negotiating international licensing and other ancillary revenue deals on behalf of the company.

Prior to AMC Networks, Laura served as General Counsel of a New York based production company.
